Electoral processes underway in Brazil and Puno, Peru
In Brazil, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has reported on the progress of the presidential second-round elections. Over 158.7 million voters are participating to elect the next head of state and regional executives. TSE President Kassio Nunes Marques highlighted that the electronic voting system has operated continuously for 30 years. Preliminary reports indicated that 900 voting machines—approximately 0.18 percent of the total—were replaced due to technical issues, with 48,000 contingency devices available.
In Puno, Peru, authorities have confirmed preparations for elections in 71 population centers scheduled for November 1. More than 51,000 eligible voters will participate across 182 polling stations. Local officials clarified that the electoral roll is managed exclusively by Reniec to ensure transparency and prevent unauthorized lists. Security for the voting period, which runs from 7:00 to 17:00, will be provided by the National Police of Peru.
