Electric and hybrid vehicle markets expand in Europe and Argentina
The electric and hybrid vehicle markets are showing significant growth in Europe and Argentina. In Spain, pure electric vehicle sales rose by 33.1% compared to the previous year, reaching 83,242 units and representing 9.32% of the market. An OCU survey of 3,810 drivers across ten European countries found that BMW and Smart lead in reliability with scores of 91 out of 100. While Tesla leads in driver satisfaction, brands like BYD and Dacia also show high reliability rankings.
In Argentina, sales of electrified vehicles—including both pure electric and hybrid models—surged by 339% in the first half of the year, exceeding 40,000 units. This growth is driven by government incentives. Popular models include the Ford Territory, Toyota Corolla Cross, and various BYD models. In the Argentine market, certain models show high electrification ratios, such as the Haval Jolion, where 97% of sales are hybrid.
