Electric bus innovations from Daimler and MG Commercial

Major manufacturers are introducing new electric bus technologies at upcoming industry exhibitions. At FIAA 2026 in Madrid, Daimler Buses will debut the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro, the company’s first fully electric intercity bus. The eIntouro features lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells with a 414 kWh capacity, offering a range of up to 500 km and supporting wireless software updates via mobile networks.

Daimler Buses will also showcase the updated eCitaro with fourth-generation NMC4 batteries, which provide 13% higher energy density than previous models. Other featured vehicles include the OC 500 48-volt mild-hybrid chassis and the Tourismo Safety Coach.

Separately, MG Commercial is set to present two new battery-electric buses at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover: the iEV12 city bus and the iEV12LE intercity bus. The iEV12LE is a low-floor model designed for long-distance and regional transport, claiming a range of over 650 km in the e-SORT-2 test cycle.
