Electric cars top Hungarian used‑car price chart in May
In May, electric vehicles became the most expensive segment on Hungary’s used‑car market. The average listed price for electric cars rose to 11.7 million forints, overtaking hybrids whose average fell to 11.04 million forints. Compared with May 2025, hybrid prices dropped 11.6 % while electric prices increased 1.1 %. Prices for gasoline and diesel models stayed roughly unchanged, with diesel cars averaging about 5 % higher than gasoline ones.
The analysis also noted a shrinking low‑price segment: by May 2026, only 36 % of listings were under 2.5 million forints, down nearly 4 percentage points from the previous year. Conversely, the mid‑range brackets (2.5‑5 million and 5‑10 million) together accounted for half of all advertised vehicles. The share of electric cars among all listings grew from 4.4 % to nearly 5 % over the year, reflecting a modest but clear market shift toward higher‑priced electric models.
