JMC and JMEV launch affordable electric city cars in Chile and Argentina
Electric vehicle manufacturers are expanding their urban mobility offerings in South America with the introduction of budget-friendly compact models.
In Chile, JMC has officially launched the EV3, a 100% electric city car designed for four passengers. The vehicle features a 67 HP motor and a lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a WLTP-homologated range of 223 kilometers, though the manufacturer claims up to 320 kilometers. With promotional pricing starting at $12,990,000 CLP, the model targets young drivers and small families.
In Argentina, the JMEV Easy 3 is positioned as one of the most affordable new vehicles in the market, priced at approximately US$16,900. Testing indicates the vehicle can achieve a real-world autonomy of 310 kilometers under daily driving conditions with high energy regeneration. While suitable for urban environments due to its compact size and 68 CV motor, its performance is noted as modest for highway speeds.
