Electric compact vehicles target European urban mobility

The European urban mobility market is seeing new developments in compact electric vehicles. Spanish manufacturer Liux plans to debut the Big at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The Big is an ultra-compact, 100% electric vehicle designed for city use, featuring a biocomposite structure made from flax fiber. This material choice aims to reduce chassis weight by 40% and carbon footprint by 60%. The vehicle, categorized as an L7e quadricycle, is expected to launch in the first half of 2027 in Spain, Italy, and France, with an estimated range of 270 kilometers and a price under 18,000 euros.

Simultaneously, Citroen is preparing to revive the iconic 2CV nameplate. A concept version of the fully electric city car will be presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 2026. The production model is anticipated for a 2028 debut, targeting a price point below 15,000 euros. The new 2CV is intended to provide accessible urban mobility, potentially replacing the brand's discontinued C1 and C2 city car lines.
