Electric micromobility updates: New regulations and solar charging infrastructure
Developments in electric micromobility are progressing through both regulatory updates and infrastructure investments. In Hungary, planned changes to the KRESZ traffic regulations for 2026 aim to categorize electric scooters based on technical specifications such as power and speed. These new classifications will determine permitted usage areas and required safety equipment. Until the final text is published, users are advised to follow current local signage and exercise caution on sidewalks.
In Subotica, Serbia, the city is investing three million dinars to establish three solar-powered charging stations for electric bicycles. These stations, located in the Tokio district, near the sports hall in Sétaerdő, and by the pool in Harcosok sorakozó, will allow citizens to charge two vehicles simultaneously free of charge. The stations will also feature USB ports for mobile phones and a compressor for inflating bicycle tires, aiming to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation.
