Electric mobility startups secure funding for leasing and charging
Two European startups specializing in electric mobility have secured new funding to expand their services.
French manufacturer Ellipse Bikes, based near Troyes, has raised 1.5 million euros in a funding round led by SideAngels, with support from Bpifrance and Caisse d’Épargne. The company intends to use the capital to accelerate its corporate leasing offerings, which currently account for 40% of its business. Ellipse Bikes aims to place approximately 500 corporate leased bikes in 2025, with a target of 800 units in 2026, while expanding its partner network to 100 locations within two years.
Meanwhile, Belgian startup Sumura has raised 143,000 euros from business angels to develop universal charging stations for electric bicycles. The technology aims to allow users to charge almost any e-bike model without needing a personal charger, addressing the current lack of standardized connectors. Sumura is targeting businesses, parking facilities, and building managers to provide secure, centralized charging infrastructure for employees and residents.
