Electric mobility trends show growth in offroad scooters and political influence on EV brands
The electric mobility market is seeing diversification in both vehicle types and consumer purchasing drivers. In the micromobility sector, offroad electric scooters are gaining popularity among outdoor enthusiasts. These vehicles feature robust designs, including large pneumatic tires, powerful motors ranging from 1000 to 2000 watts, and full suspension systems to handle unpaved terrain. The French brand Zosh is currently expanding into the German market with models designed to bridge urban lifestyle and offroad adventure.
In the broader electric vehicle (EV) market, a study by the Institute of the German Economy (IW) and TU Dresden suggests that political preferences significantly influence brand choice. While German manufacturers like Volkswagen continue to lead registrations, the study indicates that political alignment may impact purchasing decisions more heavily than traditional factors such as age, education, or income. Recent registration data shows a notable 48 percent decline in new Tesla registrations compared to the previous year, while Chinese manufacturer BYD accounts for approximately two percent of new registrations.
