Electric scooter prices in India drop as brands adopt battery subscription models
Several manufacturers in India, including Hero, TVS, Ather, and Komaki, are offering electric scooters at lower entry prices, often through Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plans. Under these models, the initial purchase price is reduced, but customers pay separate subscription fees for battery usage.
Komaki offers the lowest entry price with the X1, starting at ₹34,999, providing a range between 55 km and 150 km depending on the configuration. Hero’s Vida VX2 starts at ₹44,990 under the BaaS plan, featuring a 6 kW motor and Bluetooth connectivity. TVS offers multiple options, including the Orbiter V1 starting at ₹49,999 with BaaS, and the iQube, which starts at ₹59,999 under the subscription model compared to ₹1,19,565 without it.
The TVS iQube is available in six variants with battery capacities ranging from 2.3 kWh to 5.3 kWh, providing an IDC range between 114 km and 212 km. Ather’s Rizta also utilizes the BaaS model, starting at ₹75,999, whereas the price without the plan is approximately ₹1.22 lakh.
