Electric vehicle adoption rises in Balearic Islands
The number of electrified vehicles in the Balearic Islands has seen significant growth, increasing from 33,718 in 2023 to 61,551 in 2025, representing an 82% rise. This trend positions the Balearic Islands as the fifth Spanish community with the highest presence of electric vehicles in its fleet.
Plug-in hybrids have seen a notable increase, growing from 2,359 vehicles in 2023 to 5,365 in 2025. However, non-plug-in hybrids remain the most prevalent type, with nearly 44,000 vehicles currently in the fleet.
Government initiatives, including a two-million-euro aid program for scrapping vehicles older than ten years, have supported the transition from conventional engines to more sustainable options.
