Electric vehicle charging infrastructure expands in the Czech Republic

Electric vehicle charging infrastructure is expanding in the Czech Republic through new high-power installations by Shell Recharge and ORLEN Charge.

Shell Recharge has established 95 high-power charging points across 25 locations in the country. Utilizing technology from Schneider Electric and StarCharge, these stations can deliver up to 320 kW, potentially replenishing most of a compatible vehicle's battery capacity in approximately 15 minutes. The hardware has undergone type testing by the Czech Metrology Institute to ensure compliant energy measurement in accordance with European AFIR regulations.

Meanwhile, ORLEN Charge has opened a new ultra-fast charging hub in Osice on the D11 highway. Developed in cooperation with HOCHTIEF, the hub features six ultra-fast charging points with a total installed capacity of 900 kW. The site utilizes a modular charging cluster system from Chargee, which dynamically distributes power in 50 kW increments to multiple vehicles simultaneously. ORLEN aims to open ten additional ultra-fast hubs by the end of the year.
