Electric vehicle costs drop as V2G technology and micro-EVs emerge

New data from the French industry organization Avere-France indicates that electric vehicle (EV) operating costs are significantly lower than gasoline vehicles. On average, EV owners pay approximately 420 euros annually for charging, compared to roughly 1,200 euros for gasoline counterparts.

Costs can be further reduced through intelligent charging and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. Intelligent charging, which utilizes lower-cost hours, can cut expenses by about 30 percent. V2G technology allows vehicles to act as mobile batteries, selling electricity back to the grid during peak demand, which could potentially reduce charging costs by 70 to 80 percent. Renault’s Mobilize Power is currently a notable mass-market service offering V2G capabilities.

In the Danish market, the Elveon Min-E Sedan—a five-door hatchback classified as a heavy quadricycle—is being introduced by importer Joseph Chu. Based on the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV produced by SAIC, the vehicle is designed for urban use with a power limit of 30 kW. While it lacks some standard automotive safety requirements, it includes ABS, anti-spin systems, and airbags.
