Electric vehicle industry faces infrastructure and technical challenges
The electric vehicle (EV) sector faces diverse challenges ranging from infrastructure limitations to technical efficiency and logistical restrictions. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the growing presence of used Teslas is hampered by a lack of official dealers and a minimal charging network, with only three Destination chargers available nationwide.
Technical studies by the German club ADAC highlight energy loss during charging. While high-power wallboxes significantly reduce these losses, using mobile chargers can result in energy waste of up to 24.2% in some models. Additionally, industry experts argue that small urban EVs should aim for a minimum of 450 km of range to ensure they remain practical for long-distance travel.
On the innovation front, Chinese automotive giant Geely has announced a new 1000V network architecture. This technology aims to reduce battery charging times from 10% to 80% to under 5.5 minutes, addressing one of the primary concerns for potential EV buyers.
Conversely, some retailers are implementing restrictions. Carrefour Belgium has prohibited EVs from using elevated parking areas in certain supermarkets due to concerns regarding the increased weight of EV batteries and the potential difficulty of managing fires in older parking structures.
