Electric vehicle technology advances in solar glass and smart navigation

The electric vehicle (EV) sector is seeing significant advancements in technology and consumer trends. In terms of hardware, Fuyao Glass has developed solar-integrated glass ceilings capable of adding at least 10 km of range per day. This technology is reportedly being considered for use in BYD models, though its utility may be limited for vehicles already equipped with high-speed charging systems.

On the software side, navigation tools like Google Maps are evolving to support EV drivers by predicting remaining battery levels based on terrain, weather, and traffic. The application can automatically suggest charging stops if the estimated battery level is insufficient to reach a destination.

Market trends also indicate a rising demand for compact electric vehicles, particularly for urban mobility. In Vietnam, models like the VinFast VF 3 and VF 2 have seen significant interest, reflecting a shift toward smaller, more maneuverable vehicles that offer a cost-effective alternative to motorcycles for city commuting.
