Electrica secures approvals for 17 battery storage projects totaling 700 MWh
Electrica obtained technical connection authorisations (ATR) for 17 battery‑storage projects with a combined capacity of about 700 MWh. The company also received nearly 4.9 million lei of non‑repayable EU funding for a 22 MWh BESS at the Vulturu substation in Vrancea County, covering installation, transformation and grid‑connection works. Director‑General Alexandru Chiriță linked the projects to the firm’s three strategic goals – system security, flexibility and renewable integration – and said the installations are slated for commissioning by the end of 2027. The storage programme follows Electrica’s October 2025 plan to build a portfolio capable of 1 GW of generation and at least 900 MWh of storage.
