Electrical accidents injure dozens in Mexico

A lightning strike hit a crowd celebrating a patronal festival in Toluca, State of Mexico, injuring several people, including a pregnant woman who was hospitalized. Emergency responders from municipal civil protection, the State Health Service and the Red Cross provided first aid and transported the injured to hospitals.

Separately, four workers were injured by an electric shock at the power plant of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California in Mexicale. One worker lost consciousness and was rescued from a tower using a harness. All four required medical care for burns at an IMSS clinic. Local fire, police, Red Cross and military emergency units responded to the site.
