Electrical accidents reported in Gómez Palacio and Cancún
Two separate electrical accidents involving residential repairs were reported in Mexico.
In Gómez Palacio, Durango, 54-year-old Guillermo de la Cruz Méndez died after coming into contact with high-voltage cables while welding a structure on the second floor of his home. Following the electric shock, he fell approximately four meters to the street. Emergency responders, including Red Cross paramedics, confirmed he had no vital signs upon arrival. The Vice-Prosecutor's Office of Durango has opened an investigation into the incident.
In Cancún, Quintana Roo, emergency services rescued a man who suffered severe burns after contacting Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) cables while repairing his roof. Firefighters and Civil Protection personnel had to perform specialized maneuvers, using a neighboring house to create a path to reach the victim on the upper level. The man was stabilized by paramedics and transported to the General Hospital for specialized treatment.
