Electrical fires cause power outages in Spain and Venezuela

Separate electrical fires caused localized disruptions in Spain and Venezuela.

In Lloret de Mar, Spain, a fire broke out in an electrical panel at the Hotel Esmeralda around 11:30 PM on August 14. The incident caused significant power outages affecting street lighting, homes, and businesses in various parts of the municipality. The fire also necessitated temporary traffic restrictions in several central areas, including Carrer del Grau and Ramon Borrell. The hotel has been noted for being occupied by more than twenty people illegally.

In El Tigre, Venezuela, an apartment fire occurred on August 12 following a power restoration. Local reports suggest that when electricity was restored around 6:30 PM, a short circuit in an air conditioning unit triggered the flames. While the residence was filled with smoke, no injuries were reported. Emergency responders from the Anzoátegui Fire Department and Civil Protection managed the scene, noting that the incident follows frequent daily power fluctuations and outages in the region.
