Electrical infrastructure updates in Mara and Mayarí

In the Mara municipality of Venezuela, authorities have distributed 20 new transformers to 464 families. The initiative, part of the ‘Plan Cayapa Eléctrico’, aims to optimize electrical services across 18 communes and seven parishes. Mayor Edgar Labarca emphasized the importance of energy efficiency and community awareness during the distribution process.

In Mayarí, Cuba, a theft of dielectric oil caused irreparable damage to a distribution transformer, leaving over 10,000 customers—approximately 20,000 people—without electricity. The outage affects several communities, including Levisa, Río Grande, La Italiana, El Purio, and Santa Rita. While authorities detained suspects within 24 hours, the lack of a replacement unit in the Holguín province has complicated recovery efforts, as technicians must source a new transformer from another region.
