Electrical grid failures and voltage surges reported in Venezuela and Peru

Residents in several regions are facing significant disruptions to electrical services due to equipment failures and voltage instability. In Venezuela, communities in Guanipa reported the installation of a new 100 KVA transformer to restore power after an eight-day outage affecting 25 families. However, other areas continue to struggle; in Maturín, over 40 families have faced two weeks of instability caused by a malfunctioning transformer that has exploded multiple times, leading to oil leaks and sparking wires.

In Cumaná, Sucre state, inhabitants report prolonged blackouts lasting several hours, which complicate daily tasks such as food preparation, particularly for those without access to domestic gas.

In Peru, residents of the La Esperanza sector in the Alto de la Alianza district reported dangerous voltage surges. Technical measurements recorded levels of up to 360 volts, significantly higher than the standard 220 volts. These fluctuations have already caused damage to household electronics, including televisions and computers, and residents have expressed concerns regarding potential electrical fires.
