Electrical safety experts warn against high-power appliance use with power strips

Fire safety experts and the State Fire Service warn against connecting high-power household appliances to power strips to prevent electrical overloads and fires. Power strips are primarily intended for low-power devices such as lamps, phone chargers, or laptops.

Connecting appliances with significant energy demands to a single extension cord can exceed the product's maximum load capacity, leading to overheating, insulation damage, and short circuits. In Poland, nearly 8,000 fires annually are linked to electrical installation defects or improper use.

Specific devices recommended for direct wall socket connection include: - Kitchen appliances: Microwaves, air fryers, kettles, and dishwashers. - Heating elements: Radiators, fan heaters, and thermal fans. - Large appliances: Refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, and dryers.
