Electrician warns of high-cost household appliances
Electrician James Harrison from Fusion Electrical has identified several household appliances that significantly increase annual electricity costs. According to Harrison, many households are unaware of the specific energy consumption of their everyday devices.
Among the highest consumers are washer-dryer combos, which can cost more than 116 euros annually. Tumble dryers follow, potentially adding approximately 100 euros to yearly bills. Harrison suggests using lower temperature settings and air-drying clothes whenever possible to mitigate these costs.
Other notable energy users include chest freezers and fridge-freezers, each estimated to cost around 85 euros per year. For freezers, Harrison advises checking if additional units are truly necessary and ensuring fridge doors are not opened excessively. Washing machines also contribute to costs, potentially reaching nearly 70 euros annually; efficiency can be improved by running full loads and selecting lower temperature programs.
