Electricity Company of Ghana announces power outages in Accra and Tema
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled power outages affecting parts of Accra and Tema from October 19 to October 23. The interruptions are intended to facilitate urgent maintenance, system upgrades, and repairs to address technical challenges within the power distribution network.
Most affected areas can expect outages between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, though some locations may experience interruptions from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Specific areas identified for impact include Ashaley Botwe Junction, Adenta SSNIT Flats, ICGC Bush Road, Tseaado Zion, Dome Paraku Estates, Ogbojo, Botwe Oldtown, and Argorwu.
These planned works follow recent power disruptions in the Ashanti Region, which the utility previously attributed to faulty transformers and specific faults at Anwomaso. ECG stated that these maintenance exercises are necessary to improve service reliability and stabilize the electricity supply amidst growing demand on the national distribution infrastructure.
