Electricity Company of Ghana announces power outages in Tema and Accra West
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled maintenance work that will result in temporary power outages in parts of Tema and Accra West on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
In Tema, at least 16 communities—including residential and industrial zones such as Tema Kokompe, Mankoadze Foundry, and various cold storage facilities—will experience outages from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The maintenance is intended to address technical faults and improve service reliability. The outage affects several commercial operations, including manufacturing firms and cement plants.
In Accra West, the scheduled power interruptions are expected to occur between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. ECG stated that these emergency maintenance works are necessary to fix technical challenges within the distribution network and prevent further faults. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to make necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled downtime.
