Aneel maintains yellow energy tariff flag for September

The National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel) has announced that the energy tariff flag will remain yellow for September. This marks the fifth consecutive month of the yellow flag status for consumers connected to the National Interconnected System (SIN).

The decision is driven by a dry period in Brazil, which has resulted in lower hydroelectric generation due to reduced reservoir levels. Consequently, more expensive thermoelectric power plants must be activated to meet demand. Under the yellow flag, consumers will face an additional cost of R$ 1.885 for every 100 kWh consumed.

Aneuel has recommended conscious energy use, noting that small changes in habits can help control electricity expenses. Simulations by Cemig suggest that reducing shower time can lead to significant monthly savings for families.
