Electricity costs for overnight fan and air conditioning use

Estimates regarding the cost of using cooling appliances overnight suggest that the impact on electricity bills is relatively low. For a standard 50W fan running for eight hours, the consumption is approximately 0.4 kWh. At an estimated rate of 0.15 euros per kWh, this amounts to roughly 0.06 euros per night, or about 1.80 euros per month if used every night.

Air conditioning units consume more than fans, typically between 0.5 and 1.5 kWh per hour depending on the model and settings. Energy advisor Álex Bermúdez notes that for many efficient split systems, an eight-hour period of use may cost less than 1.50 euros. The total cost depends on the specific power rating of the device, the duration of use, and the user's electricity tariff, particularly if they utilize off-peak hours in regulated rates.
