Electricity failure causes rail disruption near London

An electricity supply failure between Stevenage and Finsbury Park has caused significant rail disruption for commuters traveling into London. The fault, reported early Friday morning, has impacted multiple rail operators, including Great Northern, Thameslink, LNER, Grand Central, Hull Trains, and Lumo.

National Rail advised that services between Stevenage and London may face cancellations, alterations, or delays of up to 20 minutes. Passengers are encouraged to allow at least 45 minutes of extra travel time and to check their journeys before departing.

To mitigate the impact, ticket acceptance has been arranged across several lines. Passengers can use Great Northern tickets on Thameslink services to London St Pancras International and Great Northern services to London King's Cross. Additionally, LNER passengers may use Avanti West Coast, Great Northern, and Thameslink trains, while Greater Anglia tickets may be used for services to London Liverpool Street at no extra cost.
