Electricity prepaid meter recharging and billing explanations

Consumers using prepaid electricity meters can utilize several methods for recharging, including visiting electricity company branches, using Fawry service points, or employing the Unified Platform for Electricity Services mobile application. To avoid sudden balance depletion, it is recommended to recharge during the first days of the month to settle fixed fees and benefit from lower consumption tiers.

Discrepancies in balance deductions often stem from the difference between standard residential meters and coded meters. Standard residential meters use a graduated tier system where costs increase as consumption rises, resetting at the start of each month. In contrast, coded meters operate on a single fixed tier without the benefit of lower-cost initial tiers, which can lead to faster balance depletion.

Other reasons for sudden balance drops include accumulated debts from electricity usage that continued after the balance reached zero, price adjustments when moving between consumption tiers, and monthly service fees or outstanding installments.
