Experts suggest that consumers with spot-price contracts should consider whether to fix their electricity prices for a set period. While price fixing provides stability and predictability for household budgets—which can be beneficial during cold, windless winter periods—it prevents consumers from benefiting from low-price intervals.

Minna Tolvanen, an expert at Motiva, notes that fixing prices for a period such as six months (from October to March) can be a strategic move for those seeking to avoid unexpected bill spikes, though it does not guarantee the lowest possible cost if market prices remain lower than anticipated.
