Electricity pricing and tariff structures in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

Electricity pricing structures and cost-saving mechanisms vary across the region. In Serbia, Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) offers a two-tariff system for households equipped with two-tariff meters. This system allows for significant savings by utilizing lower night rates. The cost difference between day and night rates can be as high as four times depending on the consumption zone. For example, in the green zone (up to 350 kWh), the night rate is 2.4034 dinars compared to 9.6136 dinars during the day. Nightly windows vary by region: Belgrade operates from midnight to 8:00 AM, Vojvodina from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and Central Serbia from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (EPBiH) notes that business customers may face different prices even when using the same supplier. While public supply prices are regulated, market supply prices are determined by market principles and the Law on Electricity of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Factors influencing these costs include specific consumption characteristics, market parameters, and supplier costs, such as those related to balance responsibility.
