EA Sports announces return of Fight Night boxing franchise
EA Sports has officially confirmed the return of its iconic Fight Night boxing series, ending a hiatus that began with the release of Fight Night Champion in 2011. The announcement was made via a new official social media account on October 20, featuring the message: “To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back.”
While the revival is confirmed, Electronic Arts has not yet disclosed specific details regarding a release date, target platforms, gameplay footage, or the developer in charge. It remains unclear whether the project will be a new numbered installment, a remake, or a remaster.
The announcement follows reports that previous attempts to reboot the series had been canceled. Industry analysts note that the timing of the revival coincides with increased investment in professional boxing by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which holds a significant stake in Electronic Arts. This shift follows years where EA focused its combat sports resources on the UFC franchise, partly due to the complex licensing requirements of individual professional boxers.
