Electronic Dance Music Experiences Rapid Growth in US 2026
Luminate’s mid‑year 2026 report found that the Dance/Electronic genre was the fastest‑growing music category in the United States, gaining the largest share increase compared with the same period in 2025. The genre’s rise was driven by new releases and notable artists such as Disco Lines, whose remix of “No Broke Boys” amassed 120.6 million on‑demand audio streams, and Chicago DJ John Summit, who logged 295.1 million streams in the first half of the year, a 59 % year‑over‑year jump. Summit’s streams were half from outside the US, reflecting his extensive overseas touring. Overall streaming consumption grew about 4.8 % year‑over‑year, while English‑language streaming fell to a historic low of 87.1 %, with Spanish‑language consumption increasing. Luminate VP Jaime Marconette noted a “structural realignment in language and borders,” indicating that mainstream music success is no longer anchored to a single market.
