Turkey agricultural sector sees growth through new projects and festivals
Agricultural production is seeing significant developments across various Turkish regions through new projects and festivals. In Ağrı, strawberry cultivation is expanding despite the cold climate. A 6 million lira project, supported by the Provincial Special Administration and local farmers, has established strawberry gardens for 100 producers, with yields reaching 1.5 to 2 tons per decare. In the Eleşkirt district of Ağrı, the municipality is launching the ‘Tarım Park’ project, which provides modern agricultural equipment to small and medium-sized farmers to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
In Kahramanmaraş, the Kalekaya neighborhood held a Hazelnut Festival to showcase the region's production culture and agricultural potential. Onikişubat Mayor Hanifi Toptaş highlighted the area's unique geography, which allows for hazelnut cultivation similar to the Black Sea region. Meanwhile, in Istanbul, officials report that favorable rainfall has boosted sunflower and grain yields, with the province maintaining a significant production volume in the Marmara region.
