Elektrodistribucija reports 94% electricity meter reading rate
Elektrodistribucija has reported that over 94% of electricity meters have been read regularly since the beginning of the year. The remaining 6% consist of meters located in remote areas, weekend houses, or unused buildings that are read periodically. Monthly data shows that the reading rate has remained consistently high, with a monthly average not falling below 87%, even during the summer months when flat-rate billing is common.
Since the start of the year, approximately 8,031 citizens have requested bill corrections, all of which were accepted. This represents about 0.13% of the total consumer base.
To further improve services, the company is working to implement the European Union’s “Clean Energy” package. This involves adhering to the Law on Energy and the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources to accelerate the energy transition. Plans include the development of smart energy grids and the introduction of smart metering systems. A technical and economic analysis regarding the costs and benefits of smart meters has been submitted to the Energy Regulatory Commission and the Energy Community Secretariat, with a government decision expected following the commission's recommendation.
