element14 launches global smart home and healthcare design challenge

element14, the Avnet community for engineers and makers, has opened a design challenge focused on smart‑home and healthcare prototypes. The contest welcomes participants worldwide to develop solutions that improve everyday living and personal wellbeing, covering areas such as health monitoring, elderly safety, medication management, mental‑health support and child care.

Five challengers will receive free component kits, and prize winners will be awarded a Google Pixel Watch and a Philips Hue Outdoor Camera for first place, a Google Pixel Watch plus a blood‑pressure monitor for second place, and a blood‑pressure monitor for third place. All participants who complete the challenge will also receive an oximeter finger clip. Applications are accepted through 16 August, with final submissions due by 18 October. “Smart home and healthcare technologies have the potential to transform how we live and care for one another,” said Andreea Teodorescu, Global Director of Product Marketing at element14.
