Elena Goñi awarded the 2026 Apertura Prize by Madrid

The Community of Madrid has awarded the 2026 Apertura Prize to artist Elena Goñi. The award recognizes her paintings ‘Autorretrato con Beatriz’ (2026) and ‘Pendientes’ (2025), which are currently being exhibited at the Fernández – Braso gallery.

As part of the award, the regional government will acquire the pieces to include them in the collection of the Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo in Móstoles. The prize includes a grant of 15,000 euros and is presented annually to coincide with the opening of the Madrid gallery season during the Apertura Madrid Gallery Weekend.

The selection was made by a jury composed of art historians, curators, and officials from the Community of Madrid’s culture and arts departments.
