Elena Katherine Moore death ruled natural causes
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has announced that Elena Katherine Moore, a 39-year-old fitness enthusiast who disappeared in June 2026, died of natural causes. An autopsy conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina determined the cause of death was complications from cardiac dysrhythmia with premature ventricular contractions.
The investigation found no evidence of trauma, strangulation, or sexual assault. Toxicology reports indicated the presence of alcohol but no other substances. Fisher noted that Moore had a history of irregular heartbeat dating back to her teenage years.
While ruling out homicide, Fisher raised concerns regarding the circumstances of Moore’s disappearance. Moore vanished shortly after being discharged from a mental health facility. Fisher stated that, in her opinion, Moore may have been released prematurely despite an ongoing mental health crisis.
Authorities also addressed speculation regarding Moore’s husband, Brannon Slice. Fisher clarified that Slice was never considered a suspect and noted that he had repeatedly attempted to secure professional help for Moore during her mental health crisis.
