Elena Lasconi criticizes President Nicușor Dan

Former presidential candidate Elena Lasconi has launched several sharp criticisms against Romanian President Nicușor Dan. In recent interviews, Lasconi described Dan's mandate as a “catastrophe” and criticized his conduct during official meetings, specifically citing viral images where he appeared to adjust his socks while in the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. She argued such behavior lacks institutional dignity and damages the country's international image.

Lasconi also rejected Dan's recent invocation of “healthy nationalism,” calling the concept “stupid” and arguing that leaders should be judged by their actions and contributions to the country rather than political rhetoric or the use of national symbols during campaigns.

Regarding the 2024 presidential elections, Lasconi claimed she would have won the second round against Călin Georgescu had the election not been annulled by the Constitutional Court. She suggested the annulment turned Georgescu into a “martyr” and increased his visibility, noting that many of his supporters are citizens who feel unrepresented by the current political class.
