Elena Poniatowska discusses literature and UNAM at Central Library

Writer and journalist Elena Poniatowska Amor participated in a conversation at the UNAM Central Library, where she expressed her deep commitment to books, information, and education. During the event, she discussed her professional focus on listening to the people, portraying popular characters, and transcribing the demands of social movements.

Poniatowska reflected on the origins of her work, such as ‘La noche de Tlatelolco’, which was inspired by the 1968 Tlatelolco massacre. She also mentioned her connection to the university through her late husband, Guillermo Haro, a prominent astronomer who directed the Tonantzintla Astrophysical Observatory and founded the San Pedro Mártir National Astronomical Observatory.

Regarding modern technology, Poniatowska declined to comment on artificial intelligence, stating she does not have expertise in the subject.
