Elena Sexton arrested for child neglect in Sunny Isles Beach

Elena Sexton, 41, was arrested on a charge of child neglect after her 6-year-old son was found alone at Town Center Park in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, on a Saturday night.

Police responded to the park around 9 p.m. following a report from a witness who encountered the child. The witness stated the boy appeared scared, had not eaten since breakfast, and had been alone for nearly an hour. According to the boy, his mother had left him to meet a friend and obtain food.

Officers located Sexton as she returned to the park and took her into custody. She was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and later released on a $2,500 bond. The Florida Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.
