Eleni Kourkoula returns to theater after 26 years
Actress and former politician Eleni Kourkoula has returned to the stage after an absence of more than 26 years. She is starring in the production ‘Dear Parents’ (Chers parents) at the Emporikon Theater, performing alongside Christos Hadjipanagiotis.
The play is a French comedy by Emmanuel and Armel Patron that has seen success in Paris since 2021. Kourkoula noted that reading the script was the deciding factor in her return to acting.
Kourkoula’s previous theatrical appearance was during the 1998-1999 season in ‘The Court of Miracles’ at Veaki Theater. Following her acting career, she entered politics as a PASOK Member of Parliament for B Athens and served as Deputy Minister of National Education and Religious Affairs under Prime Minister Kostas Simitis, before leaving politics in April 2007.
