Eleven NRM politicians remanded for State House trespass
Eleven individuals, many of whom are politicians aligned with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), have been remanded to Luzira Prison until September 23 following allegations of criminal trespass at State House, Nakasero.
The suspects, including several former parliamentary contestants and businesspeople, appeared before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s court. The prosecution alleges that on September 9, 2026, the group entered the premises with the intent to intimidate or annoy soldiers of the Special Forces Command (SFC) on duty.
The incident reportedly occurred when the group returned to State House to follow up on a petition they had delivered the previous day, which they intended for President Museveni. The accused denied the charges of criminal trespass.
