Železná Ruda implements new zoning plan to restrict apartment construction
The town of Železná Ruda has approved a new zoning plan designed to regulate development and curb the construction of new apartment buildings. Mayor Filip Smola stated that the plan does not expand buildable land but instead provides clear regulations regarding building height, volume, and density to prevent investors from maximizing land use in ways that conflict with local interests.
The new regulations aim to prioritize permanent residents over seasonal or luxury apartment developments. As part of this shift, the municipality has begun construction on new municipal rental apartments on Šumavská Street, converting a former boiler house into five residential units with integrated parking.
