Elfyn Evans wins 2026 World Rally Championship title
Elfyn Evans has secured his first World Rally Championship (WRC) title following a dramatic 2026 season. The championship was decided in a high-stakes duel during the final rally in Sardinia, where Evans and navigator Scott Martin competed against Toyota Gazoo Racing teammates Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson.
The season concluded with an exceptionally tight points gap, the closest since the current scoring system was implemented in 2010. Finnish driver Sami Pajari finished just one point behind Solberg in second place and six points behind Evans. Pajari recorded three wins and nine podiums throughout the 13-round calendar.
Evans described the season's conclusion as feeling like a cinematic script, noting the unexpected drama including a puncture in the penultimate special. He expressed hope that the massive digital engagement and media attention generated by the season's climax will benefit the future of the sport.
