Eli Junior Kroupi commits to France national football team

Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi has officially declared his intention to represent the France national football team. Despite being eligible to play for Portugal through his mother and grandmother, as well as Côte d’Ivoire through his father, the 20-year-old has ruled out other options.

In an interview with DAZN, Kroupi explained his decision by citing his upbringing and football development in France. “I have always played with the youth teams for the France team, I was born in France and started football in France, so I do not see myself going into a culture that I do not know,” he stated. He noted that he had already declined an approach from Portugal in May.

Currently, Kroupi is recovering from a fifth metatarsal fracture. Due to his injury, he is not expected to be included in upcoming squad selections in the immediate future, as he must first return to competitive play.
