Elias Jaua accuses United States of occupying Venezuela
Elias Jaua, former Vice President of Hugo Chávez and a prominent leader of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), has accused the United States of exercising neocolonial administration and military occupation over Venezuela. Jaua claims that the U.S. and its allies are attempting to seize Venezuelan wealth and are withholding billions in resources.
Jaua described the current political situation as a struggle for national sovereignty and independence. He characterized the fight as a “titanic” effort that extends beyond Venezuela, involving the broader peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean in their effort to preserve themselves as sovereign nation-states.
Despite the current political climate, which he described as a dark period driven by neoliberalism and far-right governments, Jaua expressed optimism for a future defined by Latin American integration and improved social and economic stability.
