Elias Lindholm faces performance scrutiny and trade hurdles with Boston Bruins

Elias Lindholm’s tenure with the Boston Bruins has struggled to meet expectations following his signing to a seven-year, $54.25 million contract. Through 151 games, the veteran center has recorded 34 goals and 61 assists, failing to replicate his 2021-22 career high of 42 goals. His performance has been impacted by an ongoing back injury.

Despite the underwhelming production, Bruins head coach Marco Sturm remains optimistic about Lindholm’s potential, expressing belief that the 31-year-old can still perform as a top-six player for the 2026-27 season.

However, moving Lindholm presents significant logistical challenges for General Manager Don Sweeney. Lindholm’s contract includes a no-movement clause that does not transition to a modified no-trade clause until the 2029-30 season. Any potential trade would likely require the Bruins to retain a portion of his $7.75 million average annual value to find a suitable destination.
