Elif Çelik prepares for Youth Olympics after success in Muş
Elif Çelik, a 16-year-old student from a farming family in Muş, Turkey, is gaining recognition for balancing rural agricultural work with a successful athletics career. Living in the Kırköy district, Çelik supports her family of ten children by milking sheep and tending to livestock.
Çelik began her training by running through mountains, fields, and plateaus, eventually transitioning to professional tracks. In her four years of competitive athletics, she has earned over 55 medals and trophies. She continues to train using self-made obstacles during weekends in her village while maintaining a training schedule in Muş during the week.
Çelik is currently preparing to represent Turkey at the Youth Olympics, which will be held in Senegal from October 31 to November 15.
