Elif Eralp leads Berlin election polls for Die Linke

Elif Eralp, the lead candidate for Die Linke in the upcoming Berlin election on September 20, is campaigning on a platform that includes the expropriation of large housing corporations. Recent Forsa polling indicates Die Linke has risen to the top position with 22 percent, ahead of the CDU and AfD, which are tied at 18 percent.

Eralp, a lawyer who entered the Berlin House of Representatives in 2021, is positioning herself as a new face for the party. While she faces challenges in conservative strongholds like Steglitz, she has gained significant traction through social media campaigns on TikTok and Instagram. In direct preference polls for mayor, Eralp holds 16 percent, slightly ahead of the CDU candidate Stefan Evers at 15 percent.
